Welcome back, Travelers! It's been a long week... and this weeks destination is 100% my FAVORITE place to go, (and the place we go the most!!) We've been house hunting down in Marco for about 6 years. You'd think we would find something by now... but nope.
Marco Island is an island off the Southwest coast of Florida, in the gulf. It is about a 30-45 minute drive from RSW (Fort Meyers airport). The island itself is super small, only 4x6 miles! Even though the size is surprising, there is still a lot to do.
We've stayed mostly in rented houses, but we have stayed in some amazing hotels as well! The Marco Beach Ocean Resort is one of my favorites.
This is a 4-star hotel on the South end of the island. We stayed in a one bedroom room, (I slept on the pull out couch) with a full kitchen. We had a view of the ocean, with a sunset every night. I would not recommend the restaurant, Sale E Pepe, though. Personal preference though!
The beaches on Marco are beautiful and clean. They get very busy, though. There are lots of kids that come down and vacations, and the public access to the beach is right between two different hotels.
Now, lets get into my favorite thing... FOOD!! There are some freaking amazing little restaurants on the island and I can't wait to tell you all about them!

The first one is the place that we go to easily 5 times a week for lunch. CJ's on the Bay. BEST. FOOD. EVER. For an appetizer, we get the Bleu Cheese Potato Chips. Well, we actually get two orders of them, they are just that good. I usually get the Beet Salad, which has red and yellow beets, goat cheese, candied pecans, mixed greens, mandarin oranges and orange poppyseed dressing. Somedays, I switch it up and get a wrap. I ask for the Caesar salad in a wrap, with fries. 10/10 recommend CJ's on the Bay.
The next place is The Little Bar. This is located in Goodland, which is a 10 minute drive on San Marco Road. The bring you the menu (which is a large paper pasted onto a piece of cardboard stapled onto a PVC pipe) that is loaded with different options of fish. I get the twin lobster tails. They are absolutely delicious. 11/10 recommend, be sure to call and make a reservation, just to be safe.
I could talk about Marco for HOURS AND HOURS, but I think it is best to stop here. Leave a comment if I should come back to this topic and tell more about it! As always, more pictures in the images tab. Have a good week, Travelers! See you next time!
Wow Lauryn! Marco island looks absolutely stunning. I can not believe that there is a possibility of you living there. You are very lucky! I find it very interesting that the island is four by six miles big. I also agree the best attribute to the island is the good food on the bay. I love food!
